Preliminary: My Final draft of my Front cover and Contents page and Evaluation

Front cover:



The positioning of the title of magazine is particularly conventional, as it is normal for the masthead to be placed at the top of the magazine, and more regularly to the left. However, the way that the two names within the masthead overlap is unconventional as, it is unusual to have this seen before. This may because normally, this would make the title unclear however, in this instance it makes the masthead stand out even more on the front of the magazine. The way the articles have been featured is very unconventional: instead of writing being used and merely the titles of the articles, as little subheadings, I have used only images. This is to attract the audiences eye, it is also due to the age of my target audience, in which post popularly chose for my magazine to look informal, hence, by only using images and intentionally making them look at a jaunty angle I have intentionally shown my consideration and thought in what my target audience had wished to be included. I have chosen to use that positioning of the model and that specific background as it relates the my target audience. The lockers obviously familiar to them, and the position appealing. The image conjoins both an outside image and school image, representing the themes within the magazine. The paper has been used to show other featured articles, this is appealing as obviously, the paper links to education and again, it is unconventional. The colour scheme that proved popular has been used within my magazine, this is appealing to my target audience. Overall, I think my magazine cover will be intriguing and appealing to my target audience as it included their interests and certain colours ect. have been chosen specifically to suit its purpose.

Contents page:

The way my contents page has been presented (the paper) is particularly unconventional. It is unusual for paper to be used, and so that is what makes my contents page particularly unconventional making it appealing to the target audience. The same font has been used throughout. This font is appealing as it is easily legible and seems formal, yet informal. This is appealing as it suits my demographic based on my survey. It is appealing that I have used the same font throughout firstly, because it means the pages presentation is tidier but also, it makes the page more familiar to the audience. The same pictures on the front cover (the featured articles) have been used in my contents page, with the exception of this time, them having them name of the article included. Making a clear link between the front cover and the contents pages featured articles by again including the images is appealing as it again, creates this familiarity and makes the whole layout and concept simpler, as to not confuse the reader.
